Which charging stations are compatible?
Our cloud platform is hardware-agnostic. This means you can connect almost any charging station that supports the standard OCPP protocol (Open Charge Point Protocol). This includes popular brands such as Easee, Zaptec, KEBA, ABB, Webasto, and many more. You are not tied to a single manufacturer.
How much does it cost to use the platform?
Getting started is risk-free. The basic version (“eCarUp Free”) has no monthly fixed costs. You only pay when you make revenue: we retain a fair transaction fee of 10% on earnings (credit card fees are already included). For pro features (like advanced analytics or maintenance tools), there is the “Premium” package starting at 2.20 CHF per month/charge point.
When and how do I receive my earnings?
Fully automatically. Drivers pay automatically right after the charging process. Your earnings are credited to your eCarUp account (minus the 10% fee). You can payout your balance to your bank account at any time with a single click, or automate the payout process (e.g., every quarter).
Do drivers strictly need the eCarUp app?
No. While the app is the most convenient option (for filters, history, favorites), it is not mandatory. Every station features a QR code. If a guest scans it (Instant Payment), they can pay via web page in just a few clicks (credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay) without needing to register.
What exactly does "backend" or "OCPP" mean?
The backend is our software (eCarUp cloud platform) that controls everything in the background. OCPP is the “language” your charging station uses to communicate with our software over the internet. As long as your station speaks this language, we understand each other.
Can I decide who is allowed to charge?
Absolutely. Within the cloud platform, you manage user groups flexibly:
Public: Anyone can charge (you set the price)
Company/Tenants: Special tariffs for employees or residents whom you invite via email
Private: Only you or your family (e.g., for free)
