eCarUp – The charging platform!
eCarUp is the flexible platform that connects charging station owners and electric car drivers. eCarUp is a simple charging station backend solution that covers all e-mobility use cases. It doesn’t matter if a charging station owner wants to share his charging station with a neighbour or a business looking for a sophisticated access and payment system – eCarUp can cover all situations.
The eCarUp backend is hardware-independent and compatible with charging stations from a wide range of manufacturers. It is flexible, which means you can decide for yourself who can charge, when and at what price. The backend is also intuitive and offers a customer-friendly web portal and matching apps for drivers.
As a technology supplier, we train our partners! To this end, we organise an eCarUp partner training course once a month. There you can learn the easiest way for tenants, employees or customers to get charging power, what costs are involved and what needs to be considered. eCarUp partners receive attractive discounts on charging hardware and are listed on our partner page.

The products communicate with an intelligent cloud environment at all times and can be comprehensively managed, billed and controlled there. smart-RED represents our products on the German market (including eCarUp), where there is a huge demand for intelligent metering infrastructure and intelligent charging stations as a result of the growing number of tenant electricity projects.

2024 - 20’000 charging stations in the eCarUp backend
In around ten months, eCarUp has doubled the number of charging points in the backend from 10,000 to 20,000. We are far from finished with our growth! The doubling is also noticeable in the number of employees: eCarUp now has eight employees.
2023 - 10’000 charging stations in the eCarUp backend and relocation
eCarUp and smart-me moved to Riedstrasse 18 in Rotkreuz in January 2023 and tripled the office and production space to accommodate the growth.
By the middle of the year, eCarUp reached 10,000 charging stations in the backend! We celebrated this in style with an internal 10,000 party.
2022 - 5-year anniversary and 7'000 charging stations in the eCarUp backend
eCarUp has already celebrated its fifth anniversary (in german)! A lot has happened in the first five years, eCarUp already has four employees and there are already 7,000 charging stations connected to the eCarUp backend.
2021 - Offer webinars and expand the number of charging stations that can be integrated
This year, eCarUp has focussed on building up the partner network and integrating more charging stations into the eCarUp backend, and numerous webinars – including with new partners – have been held for this purpose. 2020 - first eCarUp partner training and 1'000 charging stations on the platform
In June 2020, we were able to offer the first eCarUp partner training course (formerly known as the practice morning) and were able to inspire our participants. We now offer an eCarUp partner training course every month. You can find the information here.
On 5 August 2020, the eCarUp platform exceeded the limit of 1,000 charging stations linked to the eCarUp backend.
2019 - 1st place in the Future Living Contest and partnerships with major energy suppliers
This year, eCarUp once again took first place and won the Future Living Contest (in german).
In addition, eCarUp was able to conclude partnerships with various major energy suppliers.
2018 - eCarUp wins several prizes
In 2018, eCarUp won two fantastic prizes, namely the Genius Award and second place in the Zug Young Entrepreneur Prize.
As a result, eCarUp became better known and continued to grow successfully.
2017 - Foundation of eCarUp
Together with Energie Thun AG, the Central Swiss start-up smart-me founded the subsidiary eCarUp AG. eCarUp is developing an innovative and flexible platform for finding, activating and billing (semi-)private e-charging stations. In doing so, eCarUp is addressing the untapped potential of previously inaccessible charging infrastructure for drivers of electric cars.
